Webcollage is a perl script by Jamie Zawinski which goes forth onto the internet, harvests and displays RANDOM images acquired from leading search engines. Chances are that it will find some content you don't like. Neither the Earth Coincidence Control or the author of the software will accept any responsibility for you having visceral reactions to reality. The internet is like that. Close your eyes, it won't go away.

Collage images are updated every 60 seconds. Watch the ebb and flow of global consciousness. You are responsible for its content.

HOW IT WORKS

This is what the Internet looks like.

WebCollage is a program that creates collages out of random images found on the Web. More images are being added to the collage about once a minute, so this page will reload itself periodically. Clicking on one of the images in the collage will take you to the page on which it was found.

It finds the images by feeding random words into various search engines, and pulling images (or sections of images) out of the pages returned.

WebCollage also works as a screen saver, for those of you using Unix: it is included with the XScreenSaver package, and here.

The WebCollage screensaver can also be used in conjunction with DriftNet (the Unix version of EtherPEG) to snoop images from traffic on your local subnet: your screen saver can display a collage of the images your coworkers are looking at!
